Three Women Rural Development Society Centres were declared open by Hon. Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, Chief Minister, Eastern Province on 15th July 2010 at Vaharai, Oddamavady and Valaichenai in Batticaloa District.


Hon. Chief Minister in his address, after opening the Building for the Women Rural Development Society of Vaharai, said that the self-sufficiency in the development of the country can be achieved through the development of villages which is the starting point for the nation’s development. Developing the villages is not an easy task and by providing rural buildings similar to WRDS Buildings and facilities, we pave way for the un-employed youth to engage themselves in the development process of the villages. By mobilizing rural resources and taking part in the development activities of the villages, the youth too can become partners of development.

Mrs. Ranjini Nadarajapillai, Secretary to the Chief Minister and Mr. K.Arunthavarajah, Director, Department of Rural Development were participated this event.
