Mission
|
|
Implementation of the development strategies and policies for the Health sector in accordance with the National and provincial strategies and policies to enhance the physical quality of life of the people.

Key Functions:
|

| 1. |
Providing guidance and policy direction for the health sector in the EP.
|
|
| 2. |
Executive management of Health services including the direction, supervision, evaluation of services and the provision of personnel and financial resources.
|
|
| 3. |
Carry out studies to identify areas for the improvement of the Health Status.
|
|
| 4. |
The establishment and maintenance of Public Hospitals, Rural Hospitals, Maternity Home and Dispensaries.
|
|
| 5. |
The Provision and Facilities for Public Health services, Health Education, Nutrition, family Health Medical & Child care food & Food sanitation Environment, Health mental Health and Procurement of Drug.

| 6. |
Formulation and Implementation of Health Development Plan and the Annual Health Plan for Province.
|
|
| 7. |
Awarding of Head Scholarship for Post-Graduate Education within Sri Lanka to Medical Health Personnel.
|
|
| 8. |
Co-ordination of training programmes.
|
