Provide facilities and guidance to all institutions in the school educational system in eastern province to implement educational policies efficiently and effectively for the holistic development of students with balanced personality.

Key Functions:

The Management, Supervision and Control of the Provincial Department of Education and the other Education Offices.

| 2. |
Opening of new schools in the province.
|
|
| 3. |
Supervision of all schools in the province.
|
|
| 4. |
Construction and maintenance of all state school buildings and their assets.
|
|
| 5. |
Registration and supervision of pre-schools.
|
|
| 6. |
Requirement of teachers with Degrees, Diplomas and Teaching Certificates.
|
|
| 7. |
Transfer and Disciplinary control of all Education personnel within the Province.
|
|
| 8. |
Implementation of Non-formal and other special education programmes.
|
|
| 9. |
Pre-service and In-service training for Teachers, Principals and Education Officers with the approval of the National Institute Education.
