Management Development Training Unit has conducted a two day practical oriented training programme from 8 November 2018 to 9 November 2018 for Technical Officers on electrical wiring. Mr. A. Anopratheepan, Visiting Lecturer, University of Jaffna has served as the Resource Person for this programme.
A Training session on Vehicle Administration and Office Procedures has been organized by Management Development Training Unit on 13.11.2018 for Sinhala medium subject Officers and Drivers. Mr. Sanath Kurukulasooriya was the Resource Person of this training.
A tree planting programme is one of the activity which was planned under annual implementation programme 2018 and necessary fund for implementation is also allocated for selected Pradeshiya Sabhas comes under purview of Chief Ministry, Eastern Province under Environment sector. Accordingly, one of the planned programmes was carried out by Pradeshiya Sabha, Manmunai on 31.10.2018 at 9.30 a.m onwards. This programme was held at Arayampathy, Batticaloa where Mr.S.Mahendralingam, Chairman of Manmunai Pradeshiya Sabha initiated the programme and planted trees at centre part of the Arayampathy main road for beautification and to reduce the city dwellers stress.

Department of Animal Production and Health, Eastern Province is presently organizing “Rabies Awareness Week” from 29th October to 2nd November 2018 in various parts of Eastern Province. Dog sterilization as well as rabies control activities are planned to be held during the course of this week in collaboration with the Department of Health and Department of Local Government, Eastern Province
An another awareness programme on Traffic Rules and Regulation was conducted for students of T/R.K.M Sri Koneswara Hindu College, T/Sri Shanmuga Hindu Ladies College, T/Zahira College and T/st. Francis Xavier Maha Vidyalayam at T/Methodist College, Trincomalee under the fund allocated from Law and Order. Mr.M.Mohanendhiran, Assistant Director of Education, Zonal Education Office, Trincomalee organized the training programme. Senior Police officials from Trincomalee Police headquarters conducted the programme and explained the importance of adhering the traffic rules and regulation. They also clearly explained the potential adverse impacts of not obeying traffic rules to the school students. At this programme Mr.R.Neduncheliyan, Director Planning of Chief Ministry witnessed the event and briefly explained the importance of organizing this programme to the students.

One day Training Programme on Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) was conducted by Ministry of Road Development, Land & Land Administration on 11th of October 2018 at Management Training Development Unit (MDTU), Trincomalee. Mr. K. Karunaharan, Secretary, Ministry of Road Development, E.P inaugurated the Programme. Development Officers, Colonization Officers and Field Instructors were participated at this Programme. Mr. V. Gowritharan, Director Planning, Ministry of Road Development, E.P was the Resource Person for this Programme.
A ceremony to hand over the letters of appointment to newly appointed 65 Technical Assistants (Agriculture –Extension) of Department of Agriculture Eastern Province was held in T/Orr’s Hill Vivekananda College on 10th of October 2018. These agriculture extension officers will be deployed in all three districts of Eastern Province and will be involved in dissemination of improved technologies and agriculture practices among farmers leading to increased production and productivity.
Hon.Rohitha Bogollagama Governor of Eastern Province graced the function as the chief guest while Mr.D.M.S.Abayagunawardana Chief Secretary, Mr.K.Sivanathan Secretary Ministry of Agriculture, Secretaries , Deputy Chief Secretaries, Heads of the Departments , Officials and general public participated in the event.
Final one day training programme on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was conducted to the Local Authorities which comes under purview of Regional Assistant Commissioner of Local Government (RACLG), Batticaloa on 02.10.2018 at RACLG office at 9.00 a.m. Regional Assistant Commissioner of Local Government-Batticaloa inaugurated the training. Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretaries and Local Government assistants were participated at this training programme. Eng.A.S.Gowripalan who was trained on SDG was the resource persons for this programme.
Provincial Sustainable Development Dialogue with Senior Officers of Eastern Province on Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in Eastern Province was organized by the Provincial Planning Secretariat in collaboration with the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Wildlife and Regional Development on 28th September 2018 at JKAB Park, Hotel, Trincomalee.
With an objective to achieve the successful implementation processes of SDGs in the Eastern Province through bilateral contribution from provincial and district administration of the Eastern Province, this awareness programme was conducted, adhering the Government’s emerging trend on achieving Sustainable Development Goals towards attaining the global necessity. Incorporating capital development programmes of provincial and district administration with the real concept of SDG and its implementation was importantly insisted at this event. As well, a huge necessity for formulating separate SDG implementation plans by the provincial agencies and district secretariats based on the set SDG indicators was too emphasized to achieve the SDG targets at every sector level.
