A workshop on the Theme of 'Food Hygiene, Standard and Safety' in the Eastern Province was held on 12.10.2015 at Conference Hall of the Chief Minster's Secretariat, Trincomalee. The workshop headed by Secretary to the Chief Minister and Secretary, Ministry of Health, EPC, Provincial Director of Health, Regional Directors of Health, Commissioner of Local Government, Assistant Commissioners of Local Government, Medical Officers, Public Health Inspectors and other respective officials took part and shared their views and concerns during the workshop.
In a move to reorganizing and empowering the local authorities as key development stakeholders, Hon. Chief Minister has been taking remarkable initiatives to improve the capacity of local authorities with his direct supervision after assuming the office of Chief Minister, Eastern Province.
As a first step of this initiative an inspection visit had been made by Hon. Chief Minister to local authorities in the Batticaloa district in the first week of September and the meeting with commissioners and secretaries of the of local authorities was conducted on 01.10.2015 at Chief Minister's Secretariat as a follow up measure of the above move.
Top level delegation representing 19 UN organizations met Eastern Province delegation headed by Hon. Naseer Ahamed, Chief Minister, EPC on 05.10.2015 at Conference Hall of the Chief Minister's Secretariat.
Hon. S.Thandayuthapani, Minister of Education, EPC, Mr. A.A.Pushpakumara Trincomalee District Secretary, Mr. D.M.S.Abeygunawardane, Chief Secretary, EPC and other officials took part in this discussion representing the Eastern Province delegation.
The second meeting of the Provincial Planning Committee of EPC for this year 2015 was held on 22nd September 2015 at the EPC Conference Hall, Varothayanagar, Trincomalee under chairmanship of Chief Secretary, Eastern Province.
Overall issues on current financial situation, imprest management and the implementation issues were discussed productively.
Chief Secretary first focused on the resettlement process of Sampoor area. He requested all ministries and departments to take some initiations to accommodate activities under their mandatory to facilitate this resettlement programme.
The main program of Fisheries Day was inaugurated in Kallarawa, Trincomalee on 10.10.2017. The fresh water prawn breeding center in Kallarawa built at a cost of 200 million rupees and the modernized fish sales center of Ceylon Fisheries Corporation in Trincomalee were opened at the occasion. A housing project in Sagarapura for the fisher not with permanent houses was also launched under the National Food Production Campaign.
These happenings were graced under the patronage of Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, State Minister Dilip Wedaarachchi, Governor of the Eastern Province, Rohitha Bogollagamaand the Secretary to the Ministry Mangalika Adikari.
With the direction of the Presidential Secretariat, the provincial awareness programme on "Gramashakthi" People's Movement (National Poverty Alleviation Programme) for the Eastern Province was held on 28.11.2017 at District Secretariat, Trincomalee under chairmanship of Chief Secretary, Eastern Provincial Council.
One-day workshop on sharing Best Practices and Processes of Provincial Planning Secretariat, EPC with the other Provincial Councils was held on 27.10. 2017 at Hotel Trinco Blu in Trincomalee. This workshop was organized by the Ministry of Provincial Councils & Local Government in collaboration with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
With a view to upgrading the skill of senior managers in the EPC, a one-day workshop was arranged by Provincial Planning Secretariat on the process, laws, regulations and procedures for procurement on 18th August 2017 in Trincomalee.
The final Provincial Planning Committee Meeting of EPC for this year was held at 9.30 a.m. on 17th November 2017 at the EPC Conference Hall, Varothayanagar, Trincomalee.
The event for the Appointment to the 16 Public Health Inspectors (PHI) & 55 Nursing Officers was held on 04-12-2017 at Provincial Department of Health Services Auditorium , Trincoamlee under the patronage of Dr.K.Muruganandan, Provincial Director of Health Services, Eastern Province.
The Government has initiated action to launch Island wide the Sports and Physical Wellness National week effective from 6th to12th February, 2017
The above programme has been launched in Eastern Province on (06/02/2017) at 8.00 am in Eastern Provincial Council Square in Trincomalee. Hon.S.Thandayuthapani Minister of Education and Sports has initiated the 1st day programme in Trincomalee.A thousand of Eastern Province Government sector staff has participated the 20 minutes Aerobics Programme and 3 Km Fitness walk for awareness from the programme around the Trincomalee city.
