A workshop on Introduction to new Audit Act was jointly organized by Eastern Provincial Council and National Audit Department on 30.11.2018 at Sarvodhaya, Batticaloa. This event was presided by Mr. D.M.S. Abayagunawardana, Chief Secretary and the Resource Persons of this workshop are Mr.G.Thewanayagam, Deputy Auditor General, National Audit Office and Mr.S.T.B.Ratnayake, Asst. Auditor General, Eastern Province.

One day Awareness Programmes for Elected Local Authority Chairmen and Members as eleven Batches were conducted by the office of the Deputy Chief Secretary – Personnel & Training, Eastern Province in both Tamil and Sinhala medium in Trincomalee, Batticaloa and Ampara districts.

The office of the Deputy Chief Secretary – Personnel & Training, Eastern Province conducted two days Outdoor Activity Based Team Building & Leadership Training Programme for Chief Secretary’s Cluster Staff from 28th to 29th , November 2018 at National Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture Training institute, Kalawewa.
Mr.M.P.Karunathilaka, Managing Director, Sri Lanka Outdoor Adventure School has served as the Resource Person for this programme.
A 10 days Training Programme (as two phases) on the Operation of Jacquard and Dobby Machines had been organized by the office of the Deputy Chief Secretary – Personnel & Training, Eastern Province at Department of Industries, Batticaloa for Handloom Instructors. Ms.Rameeiza Bhanu was the Resource Person of this training programme. The 1st phase of the programme was conducted from 27/09/2018 to 02/10/2018 and second phase was conducted 24/11/2018 to 27/11/2018.
One of the tree planting programmes was held at Children Park, Irakkamam on 26.11.2018 as a part of the “Green City Project”. This programme was organized by the Pradeshiya Sabha, Irakkamam under the guidance of Chief Ministry, Eastern Province. Mr.U.L.A.Azeez, Secretary, Chief Ministry, Eastern Province graced the ceremony and planted trees. Many useful trees amounting to Rs.50,000/- were planted in the surrounding areas. Chairman and Secretary of the Irakkamam Pradeshiya Sabha also participated at this event.
Management Development Training Unit has conducted a two day practical oriented training programme from 8 November 2018 to 9 November 2018 for Technical Officers on electrical wiring. Mr. A. Anopratheepan, Visiting Lecturer, University of Jaffna has served as the Resource Person for this programme.
A Training session on Vehicle Administration and Office Procedures has been organized by Management Development Training Unit on 13.11.2018 for Sinhala medium subject Officers and Drivers. Mr. Sanath Kurukulasooriya was the Resource Person of this training.
A tree planting programme is one of the activity which was planned under annual implementation programme 2018 and necessary fund for implementation is also allocated for selected Pradeshiya Sabhas comes under purview of Chief Ministry, Eastern Province under Environment sector. Accordingly, one of the planned programmes was carried out by Pradeshiya Sabha, Manmunai on 31.10.2018 at 9.30 a.m onwards. This programme was held at Arayampathy, Batticaloa where Mr.S.Mahendralingam, Chairman of Manmunai Pradeshiya Sabha initiated the programme and planted trees at centre part of the Arayampathy main road for beautification and to reduce the city dwellers stress.
Department of Animal Production and Health, Eastern Province is presently organizing “Rabies Awareness Week” from 29th October to 2nd November 2018 in various parts of Eastern Province. Dog sterilization as well as rabies control activities are planned to be held during the course of this week in collaboration with the Department of Health and Department of Local Government, Eastern Province
An another awareness programme on Traffic Rules and Regulation was conducted for students of T/R.K.M Sri Koneswara Hindu College, T/Sri Shanmuga Hindu Ladies College, T/Zahira College and T/st. Francis Xavier Maha Vidyalayam at T/Methodist College, Trincomalee under the fund allocated from Law and Order. Mr.M.Mohanendhiran, Assistant Director of Education, Zonal Education Office, Trincomalee organized the training programme. Senior Police officials from Trincomalee Police headquarters conducted the programme and explained the importance of adhering the traffic rules and regulation. They also clearly explained the potential adverse impacts of not obeying traffic rules to the school students. At this programme Mr.R.Neduncheliyan, Director Planning of Chief Ministry witnessed the event and briefly explained the importance of organizing this programme to the students.
