A team comprising of the Chairman & the member, Secretary and other senior officials of the Finance Commission along with a representative of Department of National Budget visited EPC,Trincomalee and reviewed the proposals of the Annual Implementation Programme-2021 of the EPC on 16.03.2021 at the Conference Hall of the Chief Secretary’ Secretariat, Trincomalee.
Mr.Thusitha P. Wanigasinghe , the Chief Secretary of the EPC chaired the review meeting and welcomed all the distinguished officials from the Finance Commission and the National Budget and other senior officials of the Provincial Agencies of the EPC with a brief note on the objective of the review meeting. Mr. Sumith Abeysinghe, the Chairman of the Finance Commission, in his opening remark, sensitively pointed out about two obligations (i) National Priorities and (ii) Specific Regional Necessities which had to be critically absorbed in to the Annual Development Plans of every provincial council and to ensure a balance development in the region.
The review session of the 2021 proposals of AIP was much effectively conducted by Mr.A.T.M.U.D.B. Tennakoon , the Secretary of the Finance Commission. He first appreciated the documentation of the Plan which was much descriptive and easily understandable. Sector wise proposals was productively discussed for further clarification and improvements. The Secretary to the Finance Commission has finally stated that most sector programmes have been accepted for implementation except few sectors in few areas which needed further analysis to assure the sustainability.
Mr.N.Thamilchelvan, DCS-Planning, EPC delivered the vote of thanks, expressing the warmest gratitude to the team of the Finance Commission on behalf of the EPC. The Secretaries, Deputy Chief Secretaries and the Heads of the Departments of the EPC participated at the review meeting.
