The 1st Provincial Planning Committee Meeting (PPC) of EPC for the year 2020 was chaired by the Chief Secretary Mr.Thusitha P.Wanigasinghe on 07th July 2020 at 9.30 a.m. at the EPC Conference Hall, Varothayanagar, Trincomalee.
Chief Secretary in his welcome and opening remark, addressed sensitively to the participants that this meeting was much crucial at this correct time, giving an opportunity to discuss widely on current status of the development activities, any shortcoming and appropriate solutions related to development programmes implemented by the Provincial Agencies and District Administration.
Chief Secretary further emphasized on the importance of Ten Key Policy Statements in the National Policy Framework Vistas of Prosperity and Splendour under direction of H.E. The President. And he anticipated everyone to give their fullest contribution to achieve the six key policies, much relevant to the provincial council. He also highlighted the necessity of the SDG implementation and he requested every institution to work in align with National Policy and strategy on Sustainable Development of Srilanka.
The DCS-Planning briefly overviewed the Capital Budget under PSDG & CBG and other Programmes of Special Projects and Line Ministries. And, he also presented in detail the current financial situation and existing liabilities in AIP 2020. The Director Planning from three District Administration of Ampara , Batticaloa and Trincomalee also briefly presented on their district development programmes.
The forum discussed in detail on various development issues and took productive decisions to successfully move forward with implementation of capital programmes including AIP-2020. Chief Secretary finally requested the provincial and district administration to work collaboratively for bringing better results to the needy people of the Eastern Province as an ultimate objective.
The Secretaries, Deputy Chief Secretaries, Heads of Departments & other relevant senior officials of EPC and Directors of Planning from three District Administration participated at this meeting.
