Second cheque awarding ceremony to Ampara District beneficiaries was held on 09.05.2010 at Urban Council, Ampara under the chairmanship of Hon.Governor of Eastern Province to mark the His Excellency President Maithiripala Srisena visit to Ampara District. At this function cheques were handed over to the selected beneficiaries to construct Houses and Toilets. Around 110 beneficiaries representing from three ethnic groups were received cheques amounts to Rs.1.7 million. At this event Hon.Governor of Eastern Province, Secretary, Chief Ministry, Chairman and General Manager of Eastern Province Housing Authority and several other officials were presented.
One day Training Programme on Safety Driving & Highway Road Rules was conducted by MDTU for Tamil medium Drivers on 9th May 2019 at MDTU Auditorium, Trincomalee. Mr.R.A.J.S. RANAWEERA (IP OIC Traffic), Mr.W.D.N. Chandrathna (PS), and Mr.M.S.M. Mujahith (PC) of Trincomalee Police Headquarters were served as the Resource Persons of this Training Programme.
Management Development Training Unit has conducted a two day training Programme on Effective Store Management & Annual Board of Survey from 6th May 2019 to 7th May 2019 at MDTU, Trincomalee in Tamil medium. Mr.A.Rathakrishnan, Accountant (Provincial Treasury) was served as the Resource Person of this training Programme.
A training Programme on Personal File Maintenance has been conducted by Management Development Training Unit from 6th May 2019 to 7th May 2019 at MDTU, Trincomalee for Sinhala medium Officials. MR.P.B.Wimalasooriya, Administrative officer (DS Office - Haldummulla) was served as the Resource Person of this training Programme.
A cheque issuing function was held under the chairmanship of Hon.Governor of Eastern Province on 24.03.2019 at Eravur Divisional Secretariat. Around 60 beneficiaries from Batticaloa District were received cheque for construction of Toilets and houses. At this event Secretary of the Chief Ministry-EP, Chairman and General Manager of Housing Authority were also participated.
A team, accompanied by Chairman, Secretary and other Senior Officials of the Finance Commission visited EPC, Trincomalee on 20th & 21st of April 2019 in view to review the proposed Annual Development Plan of EPC - 2019 and to monitor the selected projects implemented in 2018 under PSDG & CBG programmes as their general approach before giving their concurrence.
'Drugs Free Nation' Oaths program was held on today (03-04-2019) at the Department of Agriculture(EP) conference hall. The Programme was Presided by Provincial Director Agriculture Dr. S.M,Hussain.

Livestock Development Officers play an important role in livestock development through provision of livestock extension services to livestock farmers of the province. In this regard 12 nos of Livestock Development Officers were recruited into service at Department of Animal Production and Health Eastern Province.
A ceremony was held at the Governor’s Secretariat Trincomalee on 26th March 2019(Wednesday) to hand over the appointment letters to newly appointed Livestock Development Officers. Hon M.L.A.M Hizbullah Governor of Eastern Province graced the function as Chief Guest while Mr. D.M.Sarath Abayagunawardana Chief Secretary Eastern Province, Mr. Asanka Abeywardena Secretary to Hon Governor, Mr K Sivanathan Secretary Ministry of Agriculture and other senior officials participated in it.

The Office for National Unity and Reconciliation (ONUR) in collaboration with the Eastern Provincial Council is implementing numerous national reconciliation programs in affected areas in Eastern Province to restore livelihood through increasing access to rural economic activities.
In this regard a ceremony was held in Salappaiaru Kuchchaveli D.S Division on 27th March 2019 to distribute livelihood inputs in productive economic sectors such as livestock and fisheries.
The ceremony to commission the Lift Irrigation Scheme in Kaluthavalai area in Batticaloa District was held on 15th March 2019 .This scheme was constructed utilizing Rs 10.0 Mn made available under Irrigation Sector Development in Province Specific Development Grant of Eastern Province. The overall objective of this development intervention is to create an enabling environment to promote the sustainable use of available water resources to agriculture development leading to balanced socio economic development of this region. It is envisaged a total of 450 acres of paddy land could be brought under cultivation in both Maha and Yala cultivation season through supplementary irrigation while high value crops could be cultivated utilizing the irrigation water made available under this scheme.
