The Chinese Ambassador paid a visit to the Eastern Province at the special invitation of the Hon. Governor subsequently special discussion was held with the Hon. Governor of the Eastern Province Anuradha Yahampath at the Governor's Office in Trincomalee on 24-05-2022.
Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Hon. QI Zhenhong said that the Chinese government will provide US $ 76 million in assistance to help Sri Lanka overcome the current economic crisis further He also said that further economic concessions would be provided to strengthen the long-term friendship between the two countries.
Meanwhile, the Ambassador symbolically distributed 5,000 bags of 10,000 dry ration bags provided by the Chinese Government to low income people in the Eastern Province of the Trincomalee District to mark the kindness of people of china.
The Hon. Governor also said that the Eastern Province is a region rich in natural resources and there is more room for the development of the tourism industry and requested the Chinese investors to use the opportunity to invest in the Eastern Province.
The Chinese Ambassador and his entourage were briefed on the resources that could be developed through investment in the Eastern Province. In addition, the Governor handed over to the Ambassador a book containing source of information on the resources of the province where new investments available in the province.
Thusitha P. Wanigasinghe - Chief Secretary of the Eastern Provincial council, B.H.M. Jayawickrema - District Secretary of Trincomalee, L.P Madanayake- Secretary to the Hon. Governor and a group of investors from the Chinese Business Association were present on the occasion.
