The Ampara District New Hostel belongs to the Department of Probation and Child Care was ceremonially opened by Hon. Governor Anuradha Yahampath in Karangawa area.

The Governor's Secretariat provided four million rupees for the renovation of this building, which was established under the name of "Senehas Arana"scheme.

Last year, Hon. Governor observed that there was a small building engaged these children under observation. While the children made a special request to the Hon. Governor to provide a conducive building for their existence. As a result, a new building was built under the Governor's supervision.

It is notably officials of most of the organizations in Amparai district are also extended their assistance to built it. Thr Governor's Secretary L.B Madanayake, Provincial Probation and Child Protection Commissioner Riswani Ribas, Amparai Divisional Secretary Anuratha Chandaruvan, Eastern Province Road Passenger Transport Authority Chairman Samara Nilanga, Amparai Mayor and many others were present and ggrace the occasion.
